Left-hander Kevin Ziomek, the Tigers' No. 12 prospect, threw seven scoreless innings and struck out a career-high 11 batters Monday, as Class A West Michigan defeated Burlington, 2-0.

Ziomek, the Tigers' second-round pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, held Burlington to three hits and one walk. Even while piling up 11 strikeouts, he worked efficiently and threw 88 pitches.

Right-hander Adam Ravenelle, the Tigers' fourth-round pick in this year's Draft, followed Ziomek with two perfect innings to complete the shutout. He struck out three batters and earned his first save in the second appearance of his professional career.

With the victory, Ziomek improved to 8-6 with a 2.32 ERA this season. He has struck out 99 batters and walked 41 in 89 1/3 innings. He ranks second in the Midwest League in ERA and fourth in strikeouts, behind his teammates Buck Farmer and Austin Kubitza.

Though Ziomek and Ravenelle were teammates for two years at Vanderbilt, Monday was the first time Ravenelle saved a victory for Ziomek.
