Tigers sign second-round pick Turnbull

The Tigers have signed second-round pick Spencer Turnbull, a right-handed pitcher from the University of Alabama. Jim Callis of MLB.com reported Turnbull agreed to a $900,600 bonus, which is the full pick value for the No. 63 overall selection.

The Tigers have now signed their top three selections from the 2014 First-Year Player Draft. Third-round pick Grayson Greiner has also agreed to a deal worth his exact slot value. Derek Hill, the club's first-round pick, agreed to terms on a deal that includes a $2 million signing bonus.

At 6-foot-3, Turnbull has a fastball that topped out at 98 mph and sits at 92-94 mph. As a junior with Alabama this spring, he went 5-7 with a 2.22 ERA and limited opponents to a .192 batting average.
