Kelly, Martinez placed into Tuesday's lineup

OAKLAND -- Don Kelly and J.D. Martinez were in Tuesday's lineup to help combat Oakland starter Sonny Gray and the 1.99 ERA he brought into the game.

Martinez was inserted because of his power and Kelly because of Gray's numbers against right-handers.

"J.D. hasn't played for a week and Rajai [Davis] gets a break," manager Brad Ausmus said. "We'll see if his power can come through against Sonny Gray. He's got great power, right up there with Miggy as far as to hitting to all fields."

Martinez contributed quickly with an RBI double in the first inning, driving in Cabrera.
