CLEVELAND -- Technically, Hernan Perez's stint back at Double-A Erie lasted just three days before the Tigers recalled him to replace the suspended Jhonny Peralta. For all practical purposes, however, Perez never left.

Under most circumstances, a player optioned to the Minors must wait 10 days before he can be recalled, unless he's replacing a player that is placed on the disabled list. For roster purposes, however, a suspended player is treated like a DL situation.

Thus Perez, optioned to Erie on Friday to make room for Jose Iglesias on the Tigers roster, was back with the team in Cleveland by Monday afternoon. Since the Erie squad was on the road at New Britain, Conn., over the weekend, Perez didn't go far.

Perez will reprise his role as the part-time second baseman alongside Ramon Santiago while Omar Infante is out.
