Tigers' regulars will get at least one at-bat in exhibition

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Tigers' annual exhibition against Florida Southern College, usually the opener to Detroit's Spring Training schedule, is instead the midpoint of the Tigers' spring slate, scheduled for Wednesday at Joker Marchant Stadium. However, manager Jim Leyland plans to treat it the same as past years, playing all of his regulars for at least one at-bat as a sign of respect.

Florida Southern is also poised to see two-fifths of the Tigers rotation now that Anibal Sanchez has returned. He rejoined the team Tuesday and was scheduled to throw a simulated game at Tigertown, but heavy rain in the morning washed that out. Instead, he'll pitch Wednesday in relief once starter Max Scherzer has finished.

Brayan Villarreal is also scheduled to pitch in that game.
