The Tigers purchased Hollimon's contract from Triple-A Toledo to take the place of utility infielder Ramon Santiago, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a separated left shoulder. Hollimon makes his first trip to the big leagues having hit .250 with the Mud Hens to go with 12 home runs, 11 doubles and 21 RBIs in 184 at-bats.
Bautista, who had been on the disabled list since May 3 with right shoulder tendinitis, was recalled from his rehab assignment and activated following back-to-back efficient, scoreless innings for the Hens. For the season, he has allowed six runs on 12 hits over 13 1/3 innings in Detroit, with 13 walks and eight strikeouts.
Bautista takes the spot of fellow right-hander Aquilino Lopez, who was placed on the bereavement list while he deals with an illness in his family.
Finally, the Tigers also swapped reserve outfielders, placing Clete Thomas on the 15-day DL with a sprained ankle and recalling Brent Clevlen. Thomas injured his ankle during the recent series at Oakland. Clevlen returns to the Tigers for the first time this year with a .324 average, 13 home runs and 55 RBIs in 58 games for the Mud Hens.
