Verlander to appear on Conan on Wednesday

DETROIT -- Justin Verlander's offseason has included a bevy of awards, visits to MLB Network and a video game with his face on it. Next up: Verlander hits the late-night talk show circuit.

Verlander will be a guest on Conan O'Brien's show Wednesday night, part of a trip to Los Angeles this week that includes a promotional shoot for 2K Sports MLB 2K12. Conan starts at 11 p.m. ET on TBS, which had a couple hours' worth of Verlander's work back in October for Game 3 of the AL Division Series against the Yankees.

Verlander is one of two guests scheduled for the show, joining Jack McBrayer of NBCs' "30 Rock," so it's difficult to tell at what specific time he'll be on.

It'll be a rare opportunity for Verlander to chat in a non-baseball setting. He has done his share of interviews for MLB Network, ESPN and others, but almost always from a ballpark or from MLB Network's stadium-like studio setting.

In case you were wondering, Verlander will not be the first Tiger to be a late-night talk show guest. According to epiguides.com, former Tigers shortstop Alan Trammell was a guest on Late Night with David Letterman on Oct. 29, 1984, two weeks after the Tigers won the World Series. Jack Morris was also a guest on Letterman after the 1991 World Series, but he was a Twin by then.
