DETROIT -- The Tigers released right-hander Alfredo Figaro on Tuesday after the organization sold his contract to the Orix Buffaloes in the Japanese Pacific League.
Figaro, 26, was 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in eight appearances for the Tigers in 2010, allowing 11 earned runs on 18 hits over 14 2/3 innings, and he went 10-6 with a 4.14 ERA in 23 starts for Triple-A Toledo.
Over his two seasons with the Tigers, Figaro compiled a 2-4 record with a 6.54 ERA in 13 outings (four starts).
The Tigers now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
