Returned to the Tigers organization on November 18, 2013 after being hired as the organization's first defensive coordinator...entering his fourth season, he assists the Tigers coaching staff with all on-field arrangements, as well as with the coordination of all advanced scouting information for the Tigers...Has served 22 seasons as either a minor league coach, manager or instructor...spent the 2013 season as the Orioles minor league infield instructor where he oversaw the teaching and instruction of infielders at all levels of the organization...Spent five seasons (2007-11) as the Dodgers minor league infield coordinator...Served as the manager of the Gulf Coast League Yankees in 2006...spent the 2005 season as the GCL Yankees hitting coach...Spent the 2004 season as the minor league infield instructor with the Baltimore Orioles...Began his coaching career with the Detroit Tigers in 1997 as the club's infield instructor...spent two seasons (1998- 2000) as the Jacksonville Suns hitting coach and two years as the Erie SeaWolves hitting coach (2001-03)...Played four seasons in the minor leagues as an infielder with the Reds...also pitched in five games...Participated in the Tigers Winter Caravan and TigerFest, participates in the Tigers Dreams Come True program and attended Keeping Kids in the Game...He and his wife, Julie, reside in Lubbock, TX in the offseason...the couple has a daughter named Jade (10/28/09).
