Enters his fourth season in the Tigers organization and his first full season as the club's bullpen coach after being named to the position on June 27, 2018 ... Prior to joining the Major League staff, he spent three seasons as the pitching coach for Triple A Toledo ... Before joining the Tigers organization, Pico served as the Major League pitching coach for the Cincinnati Reds for two seasons (2014-15) ... Spent 11 seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization in various capacities including pitching coach at Single A Yakima (2003), South Bend (2004), Lancaster (2005-06), Visalia (2007) and Double A Mobile (2008) and Minor League pitching coordinator (2009-11) and Minor League field coordinator (2012-13) ... Prior to joining the Diamondbacks, he was the pitching coach for the Chico Heat of the Independent Western League for five seasons (1997-2002)...during that time, his Heat pitching staff led the league in ERA for five straight seasons from 1998-2002 ... A 13th round selection of the Chicago Cubs in the 1984 MLB First-Year Player Draft, he posted a 13-12 record with a 4.24 ERA (295.1IP/139ER) and 132 strikeouts over 113 appearances with the Cubs...made his Major League debut on May 31, 1988 vs. Cincinnati and threw a shutout, becoming the first Cubs pitcher in 79 years to toss a shutout in his big league debut ... Participated in the Tigers Winter Caravan and TigerFest ... Resides in Chico, CA in the offseason with his wife, Debbie, and son, Jagger.
